PRIUS 2010 - Delray Beach 2009 - Day 1

First impressions of the Toyota PRIUS 2010.

I picked up the PRIUS at Hertz in Ft. Lauderdale. Took me a few minutes to figure out that the keys don't plug in anywhere.

The shifter is unlike any other shifter I've ever used. When you put the car in reverse, you get the 'beep, beep, beep' backup sounds that trucks have.

Visibility was good all around with large windows and big adjustable side view mirrors.

The radio controls are mostly flush to the console so you have to look over to see where to push. There's also a radio control on the steering wheel. I'll check that out on my next ride.

I love the sound that the electric motor makes when it slows down. It reminds me of all those cars from the future from old TV shows.

The trunk has a lot of room, and it isn't depressed, meaning you have easy access like you would in a station wagon.

To put the car in park, you push a button, and then to shut it off, you push the start/stop button.

I'm looking forward to reading the manual. Yes, I like reading manuals.

This is the best way to take an extended test drive.
